Tom Sawyer

It was such a beautiful cool day yesterday I really should have gone out to paint the porch. But somehow I just didn't feel like painting, so I puttered around the garden instead. I let the kitties explore outside for a while, although the lawn mower spoiled their fun. I planted another container of beans and tried some summer squash, although I don't know if the container will be big enough for squash. I'm already a little worried about the tomatoes outgrowing their pots. No worries about the beans though. It's awfully gratifying to grow them - in the early days, they grow so quickly it's almost like watching a speeded-up film.

Today, I was actually dressed in painting clothes, but had no time to actually go out and paint. We started the day by going to church in Indianapolis. It went really well, and I think it will be worth it to travel there. Everyone was really friendly, I liked the liturgy, and the minister gave a great sermon on mental illness. And the energy is that of a church that is active in peace and social justice issues.

After lunch with friends, we had enough time after getting home to call our fathers, and then went out to go to dinner with friends. No wonder I can't get the porch painted - I'm too much of a social butterfly. :)

I'm almost packed to head to Michigan tomorrow. Four days of mucking out my parents' basement, yipppee. And I actually volunteered to do this of my own free will, no doubt in a moment of insanity. Well, it will make my mother happy. And at least she has dsl now, so I won't have any problems getting online.
