I've been rather tired and apathetic the past few weeks, for reasons I can't quite figure. I've been procrastinating on my reading, sleeping in whenever possible, not cooking nearly as much as I should and skimping on housework (e.g., the toilets and sinks get cleaned, but the bathroom floor doesn't get cleaned until it's so hairy it needs to be shaved). We have tons of projects to do in the house, but I've been spending my weekends going to movies instead.
Well, this weekend, I made up for all that sloth with a vengeance. Since Friday, I have:
Properly speaking, the living room isn't done because all of the furniture is still in the dining room. But the paint part is done. It's a nice medium greyish blue, much lighter than the previous shade of blue. I wanted something darker, but the next shade darker was too dark, so I decided to err on the side of lightness. But it looks very nice. Besides, now I can cover the couches in dark blue without the entire room turning into a cave.
I want to paint the woodwork too, but that can be done in bits and pieces while just moving the furniture away from the wall. It makes me almost ill to say that, since one of the reasons we replaced the woodwork in that room was so we could have natural woodwork in there. But now that we have it, I'm not terribly happy with how it looks. Paint would cover a lot of sins. And since the wood has a leaf design on it, I could paint in the leaves in a different color and make it look really pretty.
Next up is the dining room, although perhaps the porch will actually be next, since it needs to be done while the weather is still warm enough. But the dining room is definitely next since there's a section that needs to be repainted from when the door was replaced, and we haven't been able to match the paint. So we might as well just repaint the room in a slightly different color. After that, our bedroom is next on the list. I'm just a paintin' fool these days.
