Today is not a good day to be a cat in our household. First, they all got herded into carriers and put in the car, which is clearly a violation of the Geneva Convention. Then, to the sound of the Unhappy Cat Chorus, they were taken to the vet, where Sonya and Bunter were due to for their annual shots and Olwen needed her grody ears looked at.

Poor Sonya and Bunter got looked over and jabbed in the butt. They're both healthy, and Sonya has lost almost a pound in the last six months! She seemed unimpressed, however, although she enjoyed the process of being weighed because that meant she got picked up, which is always an occasion for purring. Olwen has yet another yeast infection in her ears. I'm not sure if I feel more sorry for her or us, since we're the ones who will have to put ointment in her ears twice a day until the end of eternity.

One more Tortured Cat Chorus home, with cats staring out their cages like political prisoners being filmed by Amnesty International, and they were released. But since I'm a cruel and terrible person who truly hates cats, I wasn't done. As the cats are so desperate to go outside, I decided they needed some protection against fleas, mites and heartworm and got them some Revolution. It's just a little vial of medicine that goes on the back of the neck once a month so you wouldn't think it was that traumatic. But clearly if you think that way, you're not a cat. It's wet, after all. And remarkably stinky.

So now all of the cats are sulking around the house with wet necks, disgruntled and collarless. Which is probably bad, since that means that when they decide to wreak their fiendish revenge against us, we'll never hear them coming.
