Tired

We're back home. Neither of us slept much, [livejournal.com profile] longstrider has a cold and I'm feeling a bit martyred. But [livejournal.com profile] longstrider had fun at the con and it was nice to see everyone in Champaign, although we missed seeing [livejournal.com profile] chibirisu.

First day of day care tomorrow. I've been trying to mentally tally how many diapers and how much milk I should pack, as well as figure out an extra outfit to pack. And feeling very nervous while simultaneously feeling so happy at the thought of an afternoon to work without distractions or guilt. I feel like I'm sending her off for her freshman year of college. But as burnt out as I'm feeling at the moment, I think this will be a good thing once I get past the trauma of leaving her. I decided a long time ago that it's a good thing to get the opportunity to miss her.

On a completely different topic, I've had a rash of Ebay customers ordering one item but paying me twice lately and I can't for the life of me figure out why. The first time, I got two payments for one item, with a note in one payment saying "Send a black mask please." So I figured it was a mistake and went ahead and sent a refund along with an e-mail. However, I then discovered that they had done it deliberately, and in fact they wanted two masks, one blue and one black.

So when it happened again last week, I made sure to e-mail and ask first. I heard nothing for a week and finally sent another e-mail saying I would just send two masks if I didn't hear anything back. I finally got an e-mail tonight, only it was nearly incomprehensible. I'm not sure if it's a case of not a native English speaker or severe learning disabilities, but [livejournal.com profile] longstrider and I have both looked at the e-mail and neither of us can say for sure what the customer actually wants. So I've decided that since they paid for two masks, that's what they're getting.

And I got another double-pay tonight. I've sent an e-mail requesting clarification. Goodness knows what I'll get back. I suppose this is really all my fault, for completely failing to having the ability to psychically divine my customers' desires and insisting on relying on mundane and boring methods of communication like e-mail.

I need to find a library job. I was never meant for retail. Because of course you never deal with difficult people when you're working in a library. :p
