One of the nice things about running a home business is that I periodically have to order new supplies. I may not be able to afford to order books or DVDs from Amazon or SFBC as much as I would like, but I can still have the little thrill of having boxes show up on my doorstep, even if all they contain is 60 feet of velcro or a gross of fingerless leather gloves. Just having mail arrive that doesn't come from people who want money from me and the excitement of opening a package is a nice boost to my day (it occurs to me here that maybe I need more excitement in my life if opening a box of 20 pair of fingerless knit gloves can make me so happy).

But last week, a package of fabric arrived, which makes me genuinely happy, not merely the small thrill of interesting mail but something that fulfills a desire of mine not related to staying in business. Fabric, of course, is always exciting to the crafter, even when its something as prosaic as 15 yards of cotton rib knit, of course, which I will probably go through in an obscenely short time again. But there was also the diaper fabric.
