We have walking!

I admit, when K got to sixteen months without walking, I started to worry. I walked at fifteen months, and I had fixated on that as when she would finally walk. So when fifteen months came and went, I really started to wonder. You can spend all the time in the world telling yourself that both you and your husband were both late walkers and that she won't be considered delayed until 18 months, but when 95 percent of toddlers are walking by fifteen months, it's hard not to worry.

But after a couple days of taking a couple steps towards us before grabbing our hands for support, she progressed today from two steps, to four or five, to walking a few steps unbidden between toys, to finally walking nearly three feet on her own!

We're both feeling absurdly proud of our (finally!) ambulatory little girl. Take a look:

These Robeez-knockoffs are made for walking... )

I was watching Doctor Who tonight, and it occurred to me: in nearly two seasons, they have never once gone to an alien planet. They've been on Earth in the past, present and future, orbiting Earth in satellites and as of the past two weeks, on Earth in an alternate reality. But no alien planets, which used to be a staple of the old show. Does anyone know why?

Edited to add: And even more curious, LJ has gone from marking my posts in GMT to CST. On the whole, I think I prefer an hour early to five hours late.
