Daycare update
Dec. 1st, 2007 12:10 amOh yes, K had her first day at the new daycare today. It went fantastically. When I told her this morning we were going to leave for daycare soon, she put her doll in the bag we take to daycare, went to get her coat and did a little dance. Once we got there, she went straight for the toys without a backwards glance and never noticed when I left. When I picked her up, I was a little afraid it would be a battle to get her to leave. She was happy to see me, but she was also still enjoying herself. The daycare provider has a son two weeks younger than K, and apparently they were ideally suited to playing together since they're at exactly the same developmental level, in addition to having very similar personalities (calm, able to play independently for long periods). K got an excellent report at the end of the day.
I'm sure things won't always go so perfectly, but I'm glad we got such a good start. I think K's reactions are a definite sign that she's ready to be out of the house and socializing with other kids on a regular basis. If we hadn't needed daycare, I probably would have start researching preschools for January.
