longstrider's grandmother died earlier tonight, the day before her 92nd birthday. It wasn't a surprise - we found out in February that she had a growth in her pancreas which was blocking a bile duct. Doctors had said that the best they could do was put in a stent that would give her a few more months, but she said that she didn't want to do anything that would put her in the hospital. So she went home and was able to stay relatively active until a couple of weeks ago, when she began to go downhill much more quickly and had to go on painkillers. From all accounts, her last months were happy and peaceful, with all of her children visiting regularly. And now after a year apart, she's with her husband again.

But we will miss her.

I'm glad she had time to spend with her children. Sounds like she was a lovely woman. You have my sympathy.
