Bad omens
Getting up this morning with a screaming baby, I stepped in cat vomit. Twice.

Slightly modified, this would make a great Bulwer-Lytton contest entry:
"After awakening to a screaming baby, Juthwara twice stepped in cat vomit; the really annoying part, she reflected later, was that it wasn't her baby and she didn't own a cat."
