The impossible dream
Feb. 17th, 2005 11:24 pmI drove to way too many stores today to look at their supplies of baby stuff. I've pretty much determined that we can get everything we need at the various stores around town (I'm thinking of registering at Target because of their good supply of classic Pooh nursery stuff), with one significant exception: cloth diapers. For those, I'm going to have to go to Indianapolis which is just so sad. I hate living here sometimes.
Well, I can get the actual cloth diapers. What I can't get are what are really the crucial part of any cloth diapering system - the waterproof cover to go over the cloth so all of the baby's various fluids don't just soak right through. I was able to find some rubber pants, but only for toddlers weighing between 25 and 35 pounds, which won't do me much good for a newborn. I suppose I could just invest in a good carpet cleaner and go for the au natural approach, but I suspect our clothes would never recover.
So I've been doing online research and have more or less decided on going with Fuzzi Bunz, but first I need to trek down to Indianapolis to check them out, because I don't want to invest money in any diaper before I can actually hold it and see how it works.
Meanwhile, I've made enough sales on Ebay that I'm having to make some replacement stock. So I've spent this evening cutting the tips off of knit gloves so I can make the fingerless gloves from Naruto. It's a bit tedious, but I find handsewing curiously meditative, so it hasn't been so bad.
