When librarians are bored
Sep. 4th, 2006 11:25 pmWe started cataloging our books through LibraryThing recently. Speaking as someone who's cataloged books using truly wretched cataloging software, LibraryThing's software is really very good, particularly for something intended for use by novices.
If anyone is interested in what books we own, the link is here. It's a bare fraction of our collection, given that most of our books are boxed in the garage in an attempt to make the house look more spacious. So what we have cataloged so far is an interesting mix of our most favorite hardcovers, the books that wound up in the bookcase in our bedroom (a bizarre mix of the books from my seminary classes and
longstrider's gaming books, so, you know, all religious books), the random assortment of books that had been skulking about on our headboard, a box of gardening and home-repair books I boxed up a year ago but never moved out of the bedroom and the non-fiction that had the felicity to live in the bookcase that wound up staying in the living room.
So far, those books add up to over 200, and we havne't added any of the cookbooks or K's books yet. It should be interesting to see how many books we wind up having once we get through the many many boxes in the garage.
