I went into K's room today to get her up from her "nap" (she had tried initially fussing, then switched to cheerful yodelling, but never found time for actual sleep) and discovered her standing up in the crib, stark naked.
We've had this problem before. She figured out how to take off her diaper, even from under clothes at a mere 12 months old, which resulted in our only being able to put her down to sleep in clothing that didn't allow access to her diaper and in a snapping diaper wrap or the wraps that have a buckle as well as velcro. Even so, I went in one morning and found her naked except for the back of the diaper still attached by the buckle around her waist, with the diaper itself hanging down behind her legs like an extremely ineffective loincloth. As the weather turned cold, we added the sleep sacks to our arsenal, which seemed very effective. But ever since K proved she had mastered zippers a couple months ago by stealing
chibirisu's wallet out of her closed purse (my daughter, the pickpocket. I'm so proud), what happened today was inevitable. I've been going into her room more and more often to find her sleepsack and pyjamas half-unzipped. It's just today was the first time in a long time that she didn't go to sleep within minutes of being put down, and therefore had the time and boredom to spur her onto going for the full monty.
Now I'm all for freedom of self-expression, and I'm certainly not prudish enough to object to a naked toddler. What I object to is the puddle I found her in. So tonight we tried putting her sleep sack on backwards, with the zipper in the back. And if that doesn't work, does anyone know if they make toddler-sized straitjackets?
