Arrival

The moving van arrived today, and three large men spent several hours toting stuff into our house. We have gone from an echoingly empty house to a house filled with boxes and half-filled closets and cabinets. I definitely prefer it this way, despite the way that disorganization distresses me so. For one thing, we get to sleep on a real bed tonight, with no worries that we will start out the night on a filled air mattress and wake up on the floor. And we get to sit on furniture instead of the floor. K spent twenty minutes happily jumping around her crib this afternoon after it was put together. I think she and the cats even more thrilled than we are to have our stuff again. The cats have been spending their time sitting on every chair available just in case their scent had worn off or the layer of cat hair had been thinned.

[livejournal.com profile] longstrider had his first day of work yesterday, then had the day off today because he's working Saturday. I'm not thrilled about him having weekend and evening hours, but the tradeoff of his being home occasionally during the week will probably come in handy when I want to do things like schedule job interviews or doctor appointments at which it would be inconvenient to have a toddler.

We are slowly finding our way around here. It's hard for me to remember how close we are to two other states - I've never lived so close to a border before. But the other night, I had to be amused when our waitress forcibly reminded us of just how close we are to New Jersey when she kept saying, "So is there anything else I can get for youse?"

Wooot! Yay for moving van arriving at the right house at the right time in the right state even! (Have heard horror stories of an occasion when one of Keith's friends' moving van ended up in the wrong Springfield...)

Good luck on vanquishing the boxes, too. Hate to admit I'm STILL working on that most of a year later...

There was at least one more extraneous 's' in that sentence when the waitress said it.
